Description:

  • Conduct GIS and UAV-based ecological research primarily focused on rare and endangered plant species.
  • Analyze and interpret geospatial data.
  • Carry out image acquisition, processing and analysis using UAV and GIS tools.
  • Prepare reports for upstream collaborators and funding agencies.
  • Present research findings at professional meetings.

Qualifications:

  • Major, minor, or certificate in Natural Resources/Range Management, Biology (preferred), Plant Science, Computer Science, GIS, or related discipline
  • Interest in gaining field research experience
  • Familiarity with geospatial software (ESRI products, preferred)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Have FAA Part 107 certificate or be willing to obtain within 3 months after hire
  • Ability to work independently, and in a group setting
  • Ability or willingness to learn how to write technical scientific reports
  • Must be willing and available to travel overnight during field season (travel dates will be known well in advance)
